In early February 2018, Singaporean start-up Citta.ai appointed Elle Quan, health expert in APAC, as country director of the company for Philippines.
Citta.ai wants to remote patient monitoring and more specifically cardiac, vascular and diabetes monitoring and diagnostics using artificial intelligence (AI). The appointment of Ms. Quan aims to boost the development of the company’s solutions in Philippines and in the rest of Southeast Asia.
A three-year global expansion strategy
Citta is among the top 3 health tech companies in Singapore
Citta.ai was rated among top three in the healthcare segment of the « InSpreneur 2018 », an event held in early January in Singapore by the Government of India to enable investor connect, give start-ups and SMEs in India and Singapore/ASEAN access to markets and to make collaborative innovation. The company has a three-year global expansion strategy which includes Philippines, the twelfth most populous country in the world, as growth priority.
Improving patient monitoring and screening for heart disease and diabetes
Through Citta’s SaaS based platforms, healthcare providers can deploy their self-branded cardiac, diabetic or remote patient monitoring solution within minutes, while home-care professionals enable care-givers to assist patients in health screenings.
AI could help ease the shortage of cardiologists in the Philippines
Citta.ai aims to democratize diagnostic systems using artificial intelligence focused on abnormalities of heart rhythm such as atrial fibrillation, and other severe arrhythmia, from single lead ECG and PPG wearable devices.
Elle Quan will bring to Citta her knowledge of the sector : she has worked with senior health executives in hospitals, pharma and medtech, research institutions and public sector across Asia.
In one of her statements, the expert quotes a study published by the International Journal of Cardiology in November 2016 which estimated only fourteen cardiologists per million in the Philippines.
« Citta’s AI research and its application will help ease the severe shortage of cardiologists in the country, » Ms. Quan said (source: Dailytelescope.com). « Having your own AI-based cardiologist on hand available all the time will impact every Filipino family with a cardiac patient to look after. »
