MCL Cinemas (Hong Kong) signed in late November 2017 a collaboration agreement with the Malaysian telemedicine application BookDoc. The idea is to reward its customers using the eHealth device with coupons to encourage them to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The Activ (BookDoc) service, launched at the end of 2016, offers users discounts, from major retailers and service providers every month, for achieving average-daily step thresholds, tiered according to Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
Activ: the more energy the user spends, the more reward he gets
The app can be synced with other health apps like Google Fit and Fitbit
Activ can be synchronized with other health applications such as Apple Health, Samsung Health, Google Fit, Fitbit and Jawbone. The device allows users to keep track of their daily exercise and get rewarded for it. By maintaining a high level of activity, they can get more and more attractive discounts or ‘freebies » from companies using the service.
Agreements signed with major companies in twelve countries
BookDoc app is currently downloadable for free on the Apple Store or Google Play Store in four countries (Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand) and collaborations have been established over the past year in twelve countries with reward partners, which can offer their customers the Activ service.
The Malaysian company has entered into many partnerships with major retailers and service providers over this year. In September 2017, it signed a deal with V Hotel Group (Singapore), allowing customers using Activ to enjoy rewards such as discount at all hotels of the group (V Hotel, Hotel Boss, Hotel Mi, Hotel 81, Value Hotel and Venue Hotel).
« Prevention is better than cure »
By integrating Activ into BookDoc’s offering marks a turning point in the company’s strategy, which is now focusing more on prevention to improve the health of the population.
« When the application first started, it helps users to locate and arrange their medical appointments, but I believe prevention is better than cure, so that is why BookDoc, Activ feature was launched, Dato ‘Chevy Beh, founder and CEO of the firm, said. The objective of this application is to motivate users to start living a healthier lifestyle. »
BookDoc wants to launch « a social fitness movement »
Through this new service, the businessman hopes to begin « a social fitness movement, bringing in more partners and users. »
