The South Korean group Samsung announced on September 28, 2017 a strategic partnership with TigerText, a Californian software communications company.
The two firms will work together to offer a platform which will improve communication and coordination efforts among care teams in hospitals.
A collaboration software available on a smartphone
The all-in-one clinical collaboration solution combines TigerText’s advanced communications platform capabilities with Samsung’s ease of use smartphone features.
TigerText centralizes data on patient health and clinic management
TigerFlow is the TigerText’s clinically integrated workflow engine. Its purpose is to centralize information from systems such as the electronic health record and nurse call, but also admit, discharge and transfer, as well as scheduling, imaging and labs, into a single interface for real-time, mobile-centric notifications and communication.
Samsung secures access to patient data and enhances workflow via Knox
For its part, Samsung offers added value to IT teams with Knox, its centralized device and application management platform.
- Through Knox Security, healthcare providers can provide secure access to patient health information via a mobile electronic medical record.
- The Knox Configure tool provides IT administrators with a highly secure, centralized interface for managing user, devices and applications.
A service available on a reduced-price device
The service is deployed on the Samsung Galaxy J7 at a quarter of the price of the typical ruggedized « healthcare » smartphone and other Samsung mobile devices.
TigerText software is also available on Samsung’s full lineup of mobile devices, including the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy Note 8.
Objective: to improve communication to better meet the expectations of patients
This new tool will offer chief nursing officers and chief nursing informatics officers an enterprise-grade smartphone that allows them to better communicate with each other and better meet the consumer-expectations of staff.
Clinicians should be able to devote more time to patients
This technology will thus enable clinicians to be more efficient, allowing them to optimize continuity of care to spend more time caring for patients and less time tracking down colleagues or completing redundant administrative tasks.
