Speedoc, a 24/7 healthcare application was launched a few months ago in Singapore. It allows users to request for a doctor nearby to go to a location of their choosing..
The device aims to a seamless on-demand service that provides holistic healthcare to all who need it.
A geolocation system to ensure quick response times
Thanks to a geolocation system, Speedoc doctors are matched to patients within a fie kilometers radius in order to ensure quick response times.
When they reach patients’ homes, they can meet their medical needs, but also monitor and assess the patients’ lifestyle habits (diet, safety of homes, etc.) to provide them with a better diagnosis.
With clear, upfront pricing, users have full information before confirming the request for a doctor.
Medicines delivered at home
The device provides access to a variety of common medication that can be delivered to patients’ homes. In order to offer a complete offer, Speedoc has also partnered with clinics that function as logistic bases for the collection of special medications.
Special prescriptions can be issued by partner clinics
In these clinics, GPs can receive house call requests in their downtime to optimize their working time. They can also visit nearby partner clinics for special patient prescriptions.
Speedoc’s “doctor delivery” service was set up for patients who have difficulty traveling to clinics to receive medical assistance. It helps reduce travel and waiting times. Doctors can also carry out certain procedures typically done at A & E or urgent care centers in patients’ homes.
A service with benefits for patients but also for doctors
Speedoc Doctors can benefit from:
- Location-based matching, allowing them to earn extra income and maximize their downtime;
- Claimable transport to patients’ houses to minimize their own costs;
- Easy access via smartphone to all information needed from receiving requests to patients’ medical histories;
- A chat platform on the app that allows them to communicate with other doctors in real-time, should they come across ailments that require further consultation.
Goal: to shorten the waiting times at the A&Es
A 2016 report by SingHealth, the largest healthcare group in Singapore, showed an increase of 36,000 visits per year for the past five years at the A&Es in public hospitals. More than half of these cases reported mild ailments that could easily be self-treated or taken care of by a GP.
Emergency services are also overcrowded because of limited options available to the public who need medical aid after office hours. These lead to unnecessarily long lines and overstretched government resources at A&E clinics.
By taking on consultations for non-critical ailments and minor procedures, Speedoc app aims to reduce costs for hospitals, shorten the waiting times and decrease healthcare expenditure for the government on the long term.
« We envision Speedoc as a global platform for primary care »
In addition, Speedoc is partnering with local companies, such as JustCo, a company which provides flexible workspace solutions including shared co-working space, and GuavaPass, which gives access to group fitness classes, to help working adults care for themselves and their loved ones.
« We envision Speedoc as an all-encompassing platform for primary medical care. We want these services to be easily accessible for every person in Singapore, especially those who have difficulties getting to clinics like socially isolated elderly, said Dr. Shravan Verma, CEO and Founder of Speedoc. We are constantly improving our platform, with the help of our advisors and team, to ensure that we continue to better the healthcare landscape in Singapore. »
Speedoc said to H&TI that they plan to expand abroad to cities which have look-a-like healthcare to Singapore. « These are densely populated cities with a high penetration of private primary care like Hong Kong. However, we are definitely focused on growing our base in Singapore and ensuring that we smoothen out our operations here first. »
